The Scope

The team is proud to present the on-going project;

Tokens Dispensing Unit.

Working side by side with ColourSearch, which is a newly formed company providing dispensing technology for the industrial, commercial and entertainment industries. ColourSearch has given us the challenge of implementing the electromechanical design of the project, due to the lack of technical development they outsource.

"A nice day at the park. Kids running around, ice cream and coffee selling points in all corners. All the roads there lead to one entrance. An entrance decorated with the most advanced microcomputers, helicopters patrolling the area, airplanes diving and heading for the entrance and then going back up, all controlled in one of the big rooms that unveils through the entrance. A nice beat of music playing from all directions. An environment full of challenges and tests. And the very first one was to not go in. It was simply impossible.

After someone walks in, enters a whole new environment. A playground consisted with the technologies you are yet to dream, and the only thing stopping you from being one with all these, is the Tokens Dispensing Unit.

A simple machine for a multiplexed-super-park. "

The definition of this device is rather quite simple.

From a customer's point of view, by walking close to the Dispensing Unit, an eye-pleasing graphical user interface would be visible, providing basic information, a change of language and a button that will call for assistance in case something is not working properly or the device is not, for any random reason, operational. The grapical user interface will be asking for the customer's card to be insterted, and once it is, the device will start processing the order and dispensing the required tokens as fast as possible while providing some information on the screen for enterntainment such as what colour is now processing or how many customers have used it, etc.

From an engineer's point of view, a hidden maintenance mode is to be created on the user interface, in which, after activation, will provide information on the status of different levels of the Unit. Within the maintenance mode, an engineer must be able to test the different aspects of the device, move the servos, read the values taken from the colour sensor, and all that via a user-friendly environment.
